Semaglutide interacts with parts of your brain that signal you to feel full, thus suppressing your appetite. It delays how quickly our stomachs digest food, which also leads to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes and helps you feel full for longer. Semaglutide also lowers blood sugars in part by reducing the production of glucose/sugar in the liver and also stimulating insulin secretion in the pancreas, hence why it has been used for over 15 years to treat Type 2 diabetes.
